Exciting News

In January Daniel and I found out that we would be expecting a baby.
Yes I am cheap and bought a test from the Dollar Store, but almost immediately both lines appeared. We figured at that point I was about 9 weeks pregnant, putting my due date at the end of August. I called and scheduled an appointment with an OB that was recommended to me. The doctor is in Arlington which is close to where both Daniel and I work and we are both able to get to appointments after work instead of having to take time off.
On January 24 we went in the morning and got our first sonogram. Luckily we were warned that the first sonogram may not be as we expected and were not totally shocked when we had it. But we were able to see the flicker of the heartbeat and the sack and of course the baby. She measured it a few times to calculate the due date. The first measurement came out at 6 weeks but the best measurement that she gave us was 7 weeks putting our due date September 11.

They said the baby could be measuring small and we could be further along than that. After the ultrasound they took all the blood samples and gave me some multivitamins to try.
The following Wednesday we had our appointment with Dr. Gordon. I would not say that the wait in our doctor's office is the quickest and gets us in on time but our doctor is very nice. He told me that all of my blood work came out perfectly and that he hopes it will be a very easy pregnancy. He told me I was 10 weeks pregnant which is two weeks further along than my due date. And the next day I got a call to have the u/s for the downsyndrome test. We decided we didn't need to do this test, but I am hoping at our next appointment they will tell us for sure how far along we are and when our due date is.
When we first went to the doctor I was very sick all day long, not to mention tired. Slowly I have become better in the mornings and just sick at night. The past two nights I have been able to go out with friends and stay up a little later. Daniel is getting used to not being able to cook meat of any kind or pork. It has been hard to go from eating a meat with every dinner to not, but I am grateful that I can at least handle some chicken every now and then. I also do not like salad but have been trying to eat a lot of fruit. I also tend to have a problem with tomato based sauces if I eat too much of it. I was so happy that I was just experiencing nausea until last week when I started to throw up. Luckily it has been minimal.
